In our pursuit of optimal health, wellness, and fitness, it’s important understand health is much more than just absence of illness. True health encompasses a holistic approach that considers not only the Body, but also the Mind and Spirit. These three elements and their interconnections cover our health on all levels and going deeper in each provides enhanced wellness. I view us as Spiritual beings in a physical Body, and the Mind connects the other to together.
Here’s how I define MIND in Balancing the Triad – Body, Mind, & Spirit.
Analytical – is working on your logical mind. Learning a foreign language, finding a new skill to practice, improving memory, expanding your vocabulary, doing math in your head, problem solving, taking courses and masterclasses, reading books on a topic you’re interested in know more about. You exercise your body, and this is exercising your mind with learning new skills and improving the ones you already have.
Creative – is doing things to get your creative juices flowing. Yes, it can involve painting, drawing, sculpture, poetry, music, or any other form of art. Yet this is also using your imagination. It’s letting your mind wander with day dreaming of the life you want to have, the goals you will accomplish, figuring out-of-the-box ways to solve problems. Using all your senses to visualize the outcome you want to have; your mind doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what is vividly visualized.
Subconscious – is who is running the show and it’s extremely powerful. Your conscious mind is like the tip of the iceberg while your subconscious is what’s under the water. Your conscious mind is aware of about 40 pieces of information each second; your subconscious is aware of about 40 million per second. Everything you see, hear, think, touch, smell, taste, feel, perceive goes into the subconscious. It’s very important you’re aware of what you let in.
To achieve optimal health, it’s vital to work on your Body, Mind, & Spirit, as well as their interconnections. A holistic approach to well-being acknowledges that health is a complex interplay of physical, mental, and spiritual factors. When these elements are worked in harmony, we experience a greater sense of vitality, happiness, and fulfillment. By nurturing these different elements through holistic practices, we can embark on a journey toward a healthier and more meaningful life.
