A healthy lifestyle is not just about looking good or losing weight, it’s a way of living focused on promoting good health and well-being. For me, it’s another way to describe Balancing the Triad of Body, Mind, & Spirit.
Body: Making exercise a part of your routine, with a focus on resistance training at least twice a week and building up to walking at least 10,000 steps a day. Have good nutrition with emphasis in protein and low in processed foods. You can still indulge in your favorite treats and drinks every once in a while, as long as you’re keeping everything in check; it becomes part of taking care of your metal health, especially if you’re getting together with family and friends. Get enough rest and establish a regular sleep pattern.
Mind: Engage in activities that challenge and stimulate your mind, such as learning new things, and exploring your creativity. Be mindful of what you let into your subconscious mind.
Spirit: Know yourself and your values, surround yourself with positive and supportive people, and connect with nature, your environment and if you choose, connecting with a higher power.
Start taking care of yourself today. If you were prescribed medication due to a diagnosis, what steps can you take to improve your health and potentially even stop taking the medication? Focus on being active, enjoying activities such as going for walks, bike rides, or traveling.
Many people initially focus on their health for aesthetic reasons. However, when you prioritize your health (Balancing the Triad) by eating well, exercising, getting enough sleep, and having fun, you’ll have better energy levels, focus, sleep quality, relationships, and overall well-being, and in turn you’ll lose those extra inches and get the looks you want.
