We all have experienced the impact of an injury or illness on our overall well-being. The body/mind connection or mind/body connection highlights how the two are intertwined and influence each other. When we are sick or hurt, our focus and mental clarity are often impacted. Similarly, when we experience a loss or a negative event, it can be difficult to find the motivation to engage in physical activity.
It’s crucial to understand that the Body, Mind, & Spirit – play off of and affect each other in many ways. Some days, our focus may be on the physical, while on other days, it may be on the mental or spiritual.
Recently, I found myself where I wasn’t paying attention to the interplay of these aspects. After injuring my shoulder, I didn’t have my drive and motivation to get much done; I was focusing on the injury. And I didn’t realize how tired I was, the shoulder pain woke me up every time I change position while sleeping.
This is why it’s essential to be aware of the impact one aspect of the Triad has on the other two. Understanding this interplay can help us take steps to mitigate the “negative” effects and make the most of our strengths.
Everything we do carries over into every other aspect of our life, Balancing the Triad requires us to understand the interconnectedness of our Body, Mind, & Spirit and how they influence each other. Being aware of this interplay, we can use the parts we’re currently stronger in to help boost the currently weaker ones.
