Therapeutic Work
What is Therapeutic Work?
I am not a medical professional, I do not diagnose, prognose, or prescribe medications or treatments.
I started off working on people using only massage techniques. As my skills and experience I grew I began to focus on people with issues such as limited range of motion, pain, soreness, etc., instead of those that just wanted a relaxing massage. To distinguish myself, I called what I did “therapeutic work,” which has now come to include various massage techniques, bodywork modalities, energy work, and stretching.
How are Sessions Done?
I began doing massage in 2000 and started working at horse shows in 2006, most of my career was spent on the road and I really learned, adapted, and honed my skills to that environment. The sessions are done on a massage table you are clothed the entire time and no lotions or oils are used. If needed, sessions can be done in a massage chair or a regular chair.
What Techniques are Used?
Massage and bodywork techniques may include, Acupressure, Deep Tissue Massage, Lymphatic Massage, modified Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release, Neuro Muscular Therapy (NMT), Reflexology, Soft Tissue Release, and/or Sports Massage.
Energy modalities can include LifeForce Energy Healing, Quantum Touch, Reiki, as well as other techniques I’ve picked up or figured out along the way. (To learn about energy work only sessions, click HERE).
Stretching can include Facilitated Stretching and/or Active Isolated Stretching.
Before the Session.
There’s an Intake Sheet you’ll fill out and we’ll discuss your answers so I can know and understand your health history. Then we’ll go over what you are looking for from the session and we’ll decide on an approach to help achieve that goal.
During the Session.
As I work on you I might ask you questions about the area I’m working on (i.e. pressure, discomfort, pain, range of motion, etc). We can have a conversation, you might drift off to sleep, it will be up to you.
Depending on what area I was working on, I might have you take it for a “test drive” to find out if there’s a new range of motion, check the pain/discomfort level, tightness, etc.
Towards the end of the session, you might do another “test drive” to find out how everything is doing.
After the Session.
We discuss how the session went with what we found, what worked on, and anything you might be able to do on your own to help yourself out, along with some follow-up care suggestions.
How Do I Get A Session?
Click HERE to fill out the form, describing what you want a session for. You will be contacted about setting up a time to talk for a 15 minute consultation. During this call we’ill discuss about what’s going on with you, figure out if I might be able to help, and if I’m the right practitioner for you.
If we are a fit for each other, we’ll schedule a session time that works for both of us.
